The Johnny Sampier Fund was established for the purpose of obtaining
financial support for Johnny and his parents, Dennis and Rebekah, as they
face the challenges of Johnny's disability. They have started a very
aggressive ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) therapy program, among other
efforts in his fight against autism.
This kind of therapy,
though very effective, is not covered by insurance.
| Why was the Johnny Sampier Fund established?
|
Fortunately, the family has already received tremendous support.
While we are off to a good start, we need to raise much more. Thanks to
the hard work of family, friends and even strangers, there will be a
variety of fundraisers to support this cause. Please see the calendar of
events for dates and locations. In addition, funds may be directly
contributed through the web site and by mail.
In the near future, family and friends will be embarking on a more
comprehensive venture – the creation of a non-profit foundation in
Johnny's name. The foundation will focus on educating the public and
healthcare providers on the risks associated with sepsis (especially
with regard to people who do not have a spleen or have one that is not
functioning) and the preventative measures that can be taken to avoid a
situation like Johnnys.
